Small stories of April 23, 2011

I hate spiders, okay? But I can deal with them if they stay out of my way. In fact, I had a fairly large daddy long-leg (yeah, not technically a spider, I  know) that was living in the corner by the ceiling of my bathroom for a couple weeks that I just left alone. I have one living between studs in my partially-built bedroom wall. They're out of my way and I'll let them be as long as they leave me in peace.

But today one spider went wayyyy too far out of it's "okay" zone. I opened my shower door this morning (to take a shower, of course) and there's a HUGE daddy long-leg sitting in it's web, attached to the door. I moved its web by opening the door, so of course it starts freaking out. I jumped backwards, bolted out the door and up the stairs, screaming. My heroic 14-year-old brother comes to save the day, of course. What does he do? Smash it? No. He gets a box, catches the dang thing, and puts it right outside the door to the garage. Way to aggravate the girl that's already convulsing from the thought of spiders, alone.

Anyways. I'm feeling like a grandma today, because my workout from Thursday is still making my hips hurt. I was sitting with my legs curled up under me this afternoon, tried to get up, and realized that I couldn't stand up straight from the pain. Of course, I couldn't go on my bike ride today because all of the bikes that are big enough for me have flat tires, and I wasn't in the mood to run on the cross trainer.

But I got stuff done. I love, love, love making lists, and I have a piece of paper titled "Georgia's Spring Break List" hanging above my desk. Only four things (out of 14) were crossed off at the start of today: graduation invites, laundry, color hair, and Government 2 homework. That's all I got done over the last 6 days from this list. Now I can almost add French 2 and Economics homework to that, as well as a tidied bedroom.

We also went to the Saturday evening Easter service tonight and met my god family there. We drove a bit afterwards to get dinner. I had almost all of the kids in the car I was driving, while the dads only had the 14-year-old and two 17-year-old boys, and the moms were alone. I had no idea where we were going, so I was following the dads--never again will I do that. But we had dinner at a good Texas steakhouse place, and totally clogged our arteries. It was fantastic! We even "tricked" the waiter into celebrating one of my little sister's birthdays (it isn't actually for another 3 weeks, but oh well).

This blog might turn into me giving accounts of my days--at least the interesting ones. We'll see.
